Billing policy
A credit card is required before a membership is created, including the Free plan.
You are billed on encrypt operations. Decrypt, update, and delete do not count. Active encrypted strings are a cheap inventory add-on on paid plans. Free has a hard cap on both encrypts and strings — encrypt stops until you upgrade.
Free issues demo keys only. Production keys require a paid plan.
Failed payments: we email and phone you and start a 10-day grace period. APIs stay available during grace. After 10 days the account locks.
Disputes / chargebacks: the account may be locked immediately.
Cancellation: access continues through the end of the current billing period. Encrypted values and the unused-encrypt bank stay for 90 days after that last active day. You may instead delete encrypted values and the unused-encrypt bank immediately. Immediate delete requires typing delete to confirm. Account and membership records stay.
Paid-plan overage (encrypts and extra strings) is billed with the next month's invoice in 1,000-unit increments. Extra encrypts come from the unused-encrypt bank first. Plan and payment changes are website-only.
Unused encrypts: at the end of each month, included encrypts you did not use move to an account bank — including on Free, up to two months of the included amount (20,000). Paid plans have no bank cap. Free cannot spend the bank to pass its hard cap; after you upgrade, the bank is there to use. The bank does not expire while the account is open. If you cancel, encrypted values and the unused-encrypt bank stay for 90 days unless you choose immediate delete.
Key alerts: you may set a number on any API key you created for encrypts this month and for active strings that key holds. When a number is passed, the dashboard records an alert.
Sales tax is calculated by Settlement from your billing address.
